Werewolves

A List Apart: Articles: Managing Werewolves

Project Management and Workflow:

If I move a muscle, I’m dead. Jane, who I’m pretty sure is a Werewolf, is jumping from one player to the next, testing will and looking for weakness. She’s looking for a sign of guilt or discomfort and it’s not just her. The room is full of people looking for someone to lynch.

The game is Werewolf and I’m both exhilarated and terrified, which is odd because I’m paid to play a real-life version of this horrific game every day.

Hulu Now The Number Three U.S. Web Video Site. Soon To Be Number Two.

Hulu Now The Number Three U.S. Web Video Site. Soon To Be Number Two.:

To be clear, the new March U.S. numbers released by comScore show that Hulu is still slightly behind Yahoo’s video properties when it comes to unique viewers. But the NBC and Fox-backed Hulu should pass it any day now in that category as well. Meanwhile, the number two player, Fox Interactive Media (which runs MySpace), is slipping just as quickly as Hulu is rising in videos viewed. It could well be as soon as this month when Hulu moves into the number two web video position.

Noteworthy: Youtube has over 40% of the market, while the closest competitor has 3%

The White House Gets A MySpace Page

The White House Gets A MySpace Page To Show Off Obama’s Hoop Skills: ”

The White House finally got around to setting up a MySpace page. It is spare and tasteful and doesn’t say MySpace anywhere on the page, unlike the White House page on Facebook which is clearly a Facebook page. The page is dominated by the most recent White House blog post, which currently features a YouTube video of Obama shooting hoops with the UCONN Huskies women’s basketball champs. Every time he shoots, he gets nothing but net, while some of the girls choke. (Maybe they were a little nervous playing against the President of the United States).

Here is the video:

Gaiman’s “Blueberry Girl”: a benediction for a girl’s happy life

Gaiman is one of our brightest talents these days, from poems, graphic novels, novels and movies. Mix in some Tori Amos and Charles Vess and you have:

Gaiman’s “Blueberry Girl”: a benediction for a girl’s happy life: “

Neil Gaiman and Charles Vess’s Blueberry Girl is a beautiful, affirming, inspiring picture book based on a poem that Gaiman wrote for Tash, Tori Amos’s daughter (who is also Gaiman’s god-daughter). The poem is a set of benedictions for girls, wishes for a realistically joyful life where what pain that comes only serves to make the pleasure sweeter. Vess (a well-known fantasy artist) has a distinctive style that gives the book much of its charm.

If you can read this without smiling or tearing up, you’re made of sterner stuff than me.

…Dull days at forty, false friends at fifteen;
Let her have brave days and truth.
Let her go places that we’ve never been;
Trust and delight in her youth.

Ladies of Grace, and Ladies of Favour,
And Ladies of Merciful Night,
This is a prayer for a Blueberry Girl,
Grant her your Clearness of Sight.

Words can be worrisome, people complex;
Motives and manners unclear.
Grant her the wisdom to choose her path right,
Free from unkindness and fear.

Let her tell stories, and dance in the rain,
Somersaults, tumble and run;
Her joys must be high as her sorrows are deep,
Let her grow like a weed in the sun…
