Am absolutely loving mashups. Roxanne Should Be Dancing provides musical bookends for my teens (BeeGees in ‘78 vs. Police in ‘85), and Gimme Shelter is a pretty bold mashup with the classic Stones tune layed on top of an Illuminoids techno riff.

This stuff is just out there for the downloading, and unlike a lot of what’s going on in the torrenting and intellectual property realms, appears to be completely above-board. There’s even a bar in San Francisco that has live mashups as a musical theme.

These tunes are all from Best of Bootie 2008. The prior three years are great too.

TLC & Led Zeppelin mashup. Takes me back to one of the first albums (vinyl) I ever bought. The “In Through The Out Door” 1979 release that came with a brown paper wrapper and one of four water-revealed album covers. You had to wipe a damp cloth across the album cover to reveal the colors.

Good stuff if you are one of the few people who enjoy TLC & Led Zeppelin
